Brazil’s Madrona, Hong, Mazzuco Sociedade de Advogados and the São Paolo office of US firm Davis Polk and Wardwell have advised Brazilian telecoms company Telemar Norte Leste in a financing arrangement with Finnvera.

The US$200 million loan was signed on 21 December with the Finnish Export Credit subsidiary of Finnvera. KFW Lpex-Bank and Nordea Bank Finland were lead arrangers in the deal. Brazilian firm Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados, the London office of international firm Norton Rose and Finland’s Peltonen LMR Attorneys provided counsel to the banks.

The proceeds will be used to finance contracts with Nokia Siemens Networks for the supply and installation of fixed and wireless telecommunication infrastructure and related services for Telemar, which is one of the operational companies of Brazil’s largest telecoms company, the Oi Group.
