Abundant renewable energy sources (wind, solar, biomass, etc) should attract foreign investments to Brazil and given the low prices offered last Dec of R$88 per MW/hour, suggests gains of scale to turn business profitable. This view is shared by Marco Gonçalves and Vittorio Perone, partners with the investment banking BTG Pactual, both expecting a wave of M&A. In 2012 CPFL purchased Bons Ventos for US$529mil; Statkraft acquired 40,6% of Desenvix paying above US$500mil. BTG has been involved in these deals, as well as the office of lawyers Machado Meyer.
