Lawyers in Brazil and Peru have helped Spanish security services group Prosegur acquire companies in both countries.

In Brazil, Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados advised Prosegur in its US$85 million acquisition of security transport provider Norsergel from Grupo Nordeste, which retained Azevedo Sette Advogados. The deal closed on 1 July.

"The acquisition of Norsergel is key for Prosegur’s presence in the north of Brazil, and reflects the confidence that it has in the country,” says Machado Meyer partner In Hee Cho.

Norsergel has over 6,000 employees, with offices in Maranhão, Pará, Amazonas, Amapá, Acre and Rondônia states.

Meanwhile in Peru, in a separate deal that closed on 24 June, Prosegur used Osterling Abogados in its purchase of three Orus surveillance and alarm systems companies for US$26 million. The seller, local conglomerate Grupo Romero, used in-house counsel.

Prosegur has operations in eight Latin American countries.
