French insurance group CNP Assurances has hired the São Paulo offices of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and Mattos Filho to purchase five insurance companies from Brazil’s Caixa Seguridade and Icatu for 907 million reais (US$178 million).
Caixa and Icatu relied on Brazilian firms Machado Meyer Advogados and Pinheiro Neto Advogados, respectively. The share purchase agreements were signed on 13 September.
